Eagles Win Emerald City Classic

The Eagles capped off the Emerald City Classic with a victory over the host Emerald Vikings in the Championship game by a score of 75-66. Greenwood kept pace with a hot hand Viking team to trail 40-34 at the half. The Eagles tightened their defensive efforts and generated easier baskets during the second half and forced Emerald into tougher shot attempts. Greenwood outscored the Vikings in the third quarter 26-16, and the Vikings only managed 8 in the fourth, for a total of 24 second half points. Scoring on the night for Greenwood was JaVarion Calhoun with 26, Dre Butler 16, Donovan Williams 11, Jabious Rouse 9, Stephon Elmore and Maissiah Carter with 4 each, Roshun Jackson with 3, and Marquise Tapp with 2.

Congratulations to JaVarion Calhoun for being named Tournament MVP and Donovan Williams for being named to the All Tournament Team! Keep working men!

With the victory, Greenwood finishes 2016 with a 10-3 record. The Eagles will travel to TL Hanna on January 6, then open up region play!
