The Lady Eagles fall 9-4 to Emerald
Madison Medlin did all she could to give the Lady Eagles a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Emerald, as the Lady Eagles lost 9-4 in seven innings at Greenwood High School on Thursday.
Medlin racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Lady Eagles. She tripled in the seventh inning.
L Scott got the win for Emerald. She allowed four runs over seven innings. She struck out eight, walked one and surrendered seven hits.
Emerald was sparked by L Scott and C Stukes, who teamed up for six hits and five RBIs.
Jenna Chaudoin was charged with the loss. She allowed six runs in three innings, walked none and struck out four.
Emerald went up for good in the first, scoring three runs on an error and two singles.
After pushing across one run in the bottom of the third, the Lady Eagles faced just a 3-1 deficit. A solo home run by Abigail Waters gave the Lady Eagles life. The Lady Eagles threat came to an end when L Scott finally got Karson Burton-Reeder to ground out.
Emerald added four more runs in the top of the fourth. The inning looked promising, as C Stukes homered, scoring A Blaxton and Z Chapelle to kick things off.
Emerald piled on two more runs in the top of the sixth. A error scored A Jones to get Emerald on the board in the inning.
Three runs in the bottom of the seventh helped the Lady Eagles close their deficit to 9-4. A two-run triple by Medlin and a groundout by Meredith Duncan sparked the Lady Eagles’ rally. Finally, L Scott got Waters to ground out to end the game
